This is me, Jessica. And I'm living la vida madrileña. I like travel, Spanish, reading, olives, cheap red wine and most cured meats.
I suppose my love affair with Spain started four years ago when I first decided to study in Sevilla, Spain. It was a wild adventure, all so new and exciting. It was my first time stepping outside the USA and it was so different, full of history and romance. I was hooked and when the job market provided little prospects for me after graduation, I knew where I wanted to be. I decided to take a job being an Language and Culture Assistant in Madrid, Spain. Even though Madrid gets a rap for "not being Spanish enough", I have found a richness in culture and history here that was unexpected.
Although my orginal idea was to spend one year in Madrid it has turned into my second home. I have been living for almost 2 years now and will be here next year as well. Although living in a foreign country certainly has its ups and downs I have done a lot of growing up and am for the better for it (as cliché as that sounds). I have gotten to travel and see parts of Spain I never knew existed, met amazing people (like my Spanish boyfriend Alberto), and challenge myself in new and many times frustrating ways.
I started this blog for my friends and family but have recently found a growing interest in the blog community and other travel blogs. I don't consider myself to be an amazing writer or photographer but I hope you enjoy nonetheless!
